Police Safe Driving Event
Thursday, May 23rd
During all lunches
Back Parking Lot of EHS
All EHS students are welcome to attend during their lunch!

The event is held with the hope of encouraging safe driving as the students leave for the summer. The event includes police cars, a fire truck, an ambulance, and Edina’s SWAT vehicles along with staff to answer questions about the vehicles. There will be a crash car (a vehicle involved in a fatal accident) to show the students what a car can look like after a fatal accident. We will have police officers present to run students through field sobriety tests while wearing drunk goggles. There will also be a driving course in which students can drive a pedal car while wearing drunk goggles or attempting to complete a text message on their phone to show the dangers of both drunk driving and texting while driving. AAA Minneapolis will have a table set up at the event to discuss teen driving and they will also have a driving simulator. MADD will also be present to speak with students. Lastly there will be ice cream treats handed out to the students and they can enter their information into a drawing for a chance to win gift cards to area restaurants. The funding for the event is donated by AAA Minneapolis and the ice cream treats are donated by Dairy Queen.

EHS Parent Mosaic
Join the EHS Parent Mosaic!

The EHS Parent Mosaic is a group of parents who have committed to building relationships cross culturally throughout the EHS parent community. We believe that the more EHS parents know each other, especially those they might not interact with otherwise, the more they understand each other, and the stronger our community will be. We are a team of parents who have become friends. Mosaic parents meet one evening per month throughout the school year. We listen to each other’s stories, we learn together and from each other, and we laugh together. We have found that we have a lot in common!
And, there is also great food involved!!! In our meetings, we do not focus on politics or current events. We focus on ourselves and our own personal growth. We focus on our kids and our school. We don’t focus on who is right or wrong. We focus on listening and learning from each other’s experience. In addition to our monthly meetings, we volunteer together at school events such as Get Connected Day, Curriculum night, and Finals.

We meet in the EHS Commons.
Our remaining meeting date for the 2018-2019 school year is:

May 20, from 6:30 – 8:00

New members join us all year long. We ask members to share what they learn and invite their friends to join us too. No level of commitment is too great or too small. Just be part of the conversation. If you have any questions or would like to join us, please contact Assistant Principal, Mike Pretasky, 952-848-3140 or
co-chair, Angella McGarvey, 612-310-3909.

Students in Bloomington, Richfield and Edina are Experiencing Homelessness.
What can we do to provide support?

Host Home Programs are a community-based response for young people
impacted by homelessness. Volunteers open their homes to provide food and shelter while Avenues provides wrap around services and support. Avenues programs offer emergency short term host homes or long term host homes, depending on the needs of the youth.

We are thrilled to invite you to learn more!
