Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
EHS has much to celebrate with continued success in 2018-19. We had the highest number of students taking Advanced Placement exams in our history with qualifying scores miles above the state average. EHS students made solid gains on the MCA in reading, math and science. Our kids hosted students from South Korea; traveled to Hong Kong, Peru, Ecuador and DC. They planned an environmental summit, a Hornet Rally for 8th graders, a MUN conference and a Sparkathon on mental health. EHS athletes also won eight (8) team state championships, breaking our own record from the 80s. Wow.
The Edina High School culture is one that fosters excellence and equity in academics, athletics and the arts with an active presence in the community. EHS students see themselves as future leaders with the capacity to tackle problems and answer questions around the globe.
While maintaining our tradition of excellence we also strive to stimulate progress. EHS fosters rigor, relevance and relationships, high expectations with systemic support and college and career readiness. Specifically our building and Professional Learning Community (PLC) goals for 2019-20 will be built around literacy and personalized learning.
Please use the Hornet Headlines newsletter throughout the school year for updates and information regarding Edina High School.
Thank you for your partnership and I look forward to seeing you soon. Go Hornets!

First Day of School Schedule
Please print your schedule tonight after 8:00pm and
bring it to school tomorrow. This will provide students
the most up-to-date schedule available.
First Day of School Monday, August 26th

The school day will start at 8:30am and end at 3:16pm

9 th  graders will start school at 8:30am
(buses will run on the regular schedule)
On the first day of school, the morning will be dedicated to an orientation for incoming 9th graders.

10th, 11th and 12th graders will start school at 12:00pm
(buses will be 3.5 hours later than regular schedule)
We will run a shortened 7-period day from 12:00pm – 3:16pm.
Please note: there will not be a lunch in the afternoon
schedule for 10th, 11th and 12th graders so they should
eat prior to coming to school.
We ask students to walk their schedule the first few days of school and figure out the best place for their locker. Once the student determines the area they would like a locker, they should write down a few locker numbers and come to the main office to request a locker.
We will assign a locker as close to the area requested as possible.
Students will keep the same locker until they graduate.
Students can request a locker anytime during the school year.
Students are NOT required to have a locker.

25 Years and counting, the Ed Fund has funded…
Over  $3,000,000 in Grants to Programs Within Our Schools.
BUT ONLY 9% of Our Community Contributes !

The Edina Education Fund (Ed Fund) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that exists solely to support the educational needs and opportunities for all Edina Public School students. The Ed Fund secures private, supplemental funding to support valuable educational experiences and innovative projects in the Edina Public Schools. Funds raised augment school system revenues that are provided by taxes, state aid, and other parent and student led fundraising efforts.

Since 1999, the Edina Education Fund has contributed over $1,000,000 in grants and programs to Edina High School and nearly $3 million district-wide. Grants and Programs at Edina High School include the AVID program, our EHS Writing Center and SMATH Center, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Inclusion Day, Co-located Mental Health Services, Project Lead the Way, sewing machines, virtual reality, commissioned music for band and more!

Your support is needed to ensure the caliber of educational programs we have come to expect of the Edina Public Schools.

There is no minimum donation - everything and everyone matters.
This Back-to-School we hope you'll support one of the school district's two non-profit partners, Edina Give and Go. Edina Give and Go removes financial barriers to student participation in academic, arts and athletic opportunities. Together, we can ensure every student is able to engage in the activities that exist in the community.
Edina Service Organization is a high school volunteer program based in Edina, Minnesota. Founded in August 2018 to initiate and encourage high school students to pursue philanthropic involvement.

How does ESO work?
Edina Service Organization members will have access to the members only area of the ESOwebsite and mobile app. These tools will provide an up-to-date calendar of student-friendly volunteer requests in the community and at Edina area schools. These opportunities allow students to volunteer for their favorite causes around their schedule while building a digital volunteer profile!
Based in Edina, Minnesota, the Edina Parent Communication Network (PCN) offers free forums for families and educators of children Pre K-12. PCN was created in 1998 with a goal to support parents and educators to build stronger families and a stronger community.

Since its inception, over 14,000 parents and educators have attended PCN's forums. Enjoy a night out with your parenting partner and connect about parenting issues. Gain insight on how to manage a parenting challenge or prepare for upcoming hurdles.
