July 2021
Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals in the Upstate
of South Carolina through the power of the horse.
Hello friends,
Summer activities are in full swing at Eden Farms and the weather has been fantastic for trail rides, therapeutic riding, weekly lessons, and summer camp! A big thank you goes out to our hard working staff, volunteers, and horses for making it possible.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for Wines & Equines 2021 on October 9th! We were not able to have this annual fundraiser in person last year because of Covid, but this year will be one to remember. Sponsorships, tickets, and further information will be coming soon.

We hope you and your family have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

All the best,
Becky Sweeney

Remember to save the date for Wines & Equines on October 9th! It promises to be an unforgettable evening for a great cause! Watch for more details coming soon!

Daniel was the star of the show! Be sure to check out this video that shows about life on our horse farm!
Thank You Pickens County Library System!
For Farm Animal Week, the Pickens County Library went on location with us at Eden Farms to bring a virtual program to their friends, featuring our farm and Happy Hooves Therapeutic Equestrian Center. Make sure to watch until the end to see Daniel the horse try to push Ms. Kasey around. A big thank you goes to the Pickens County Library System for producing such a wonderful video. They really encapsulated what happens at the barn!
We're Having Fun at our Therapeutic Riding Lessons!
While our Happy Hooves students steer through an obstacle course and play games on horseback they also increase their balance, gross and fine motor skills, confidence, verbalization skills and SEL skills. Afterward, we try to make time to enjoy popsicles and playing on our handicapped accessible playground, Tonka's Trail.
A Shout-Out to Helen!
Board Member Helen Graben has taken on the role of Program Coordinator, which means that she tries to make sure that our instructors, staff and volunteers have the support that they need to provide Happy Hooves' students with appropriate therapeutic experiences in accordance with PATH International's professional standards and guidelines. Helen has recently become a PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. Congratulations, Helen!
Friends of the Farm
We want to thank our most loyal supporters and make all donors and volunteers, new and old, feel appreciated! Your support is essential to our mission to enhance the lives of individuals in the Upstate of South Carolina through the power of the horse.

Happy Hooves is an all-volunteer organization. All funding comes from donations, fundraisers and grants. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, over 80% of our Happy Hooves riders are able to receive therapeutic riding at no charge.

Happy Hooves currently serves more than 500 Upstate children each year through therapeutic riding lessons, summer fun programs and School at the Barn.

School at the Barn has 570 therapy lessons and 570 Equine Assisted Learning lessons each
year. Summer camp has 135 therapy lessons; and we have 400 individual therapy lessons for a total of 1675 lessons per year.

The therapeutic riding programs require an average of 40 trained volunteer positions each week, and run year round, with each volunteer working an average of 3 hours per week.

Eden Farms, home of Happy Hooves, is a beautiful 170-acre property with three arenas, a 40-stall barn that currently houses 29 horses; 12 boarders and 17 therapy horses. There is a newly renovated handicapped accessible playground on the grounds, along with a sensory riding trail with man-made activity stations.

We once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support and your donations. We couldn't help so many special needs children and adults, and at-risk children and teens, without you!
Did You Know?
Happy Hooves has been a PATH International Premier Accredited Center since 2005. In fact, we are one of only six Premier Accredited Centers in South Carolina, and the only one in the Upstate. This accreditation is a rigorous process requiring centers to meet stringent requirements for staff, facilities, and programs. A program must be re-accredited every five years.
Your contribution helps special needs children and adults, as well as at-risk children and teens.
Happy Hooves is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
