Our winning caregiving volunteer
One of the many ways our
Edel Caregiver Institute helps unpaid family caregivers is by providing volunteer support. The grateful daughter of a gentleman living with a debilitating movement disorder recently wrote such a glowing nomination that Laney Pollock, pictured above, received the Rosalyn Carter Institute for Caregiving Volunteer Caregiver award for the Coastal Care-Net region.
Read the daughter's words here.
If you would like to volunteer to help lighten the burden of the child or spouse of a family member with a serious illness, disability or dementia, we would love to have you join us! Please call program coordinator Tonya Hillis at 912.298.0303 to find out more.
Save-the-date for Tree of Light
Each year our
Full Circle Grief and Loss Center hosts a community-wide memorial gathering on the patio of the
Demere Center for Living. Join us on Sunday, December 3, at 5:15 p.m. to remember or honor your loved one by lighting a candle, listening to words of reflection and the musical talents of our certified music therapist
Sara Breyfogle, J.J. Collins and Leslie Adair. Consider
making a donation in your loved one's memory and have their name listed in the event program if we receive by Thanksgiving.
Bereavement counselor Barbara Moss will host a "Grief and Holidays" session at the
Rincon United Way building on November 6 at 6:30 p.m. and Betsy Kammerud will host one at Full Circle in Savannah at 6:00 p.m. on November 9. Please join them if the upcoming holidays will be difficult for you to face.

Our founder and first executive director, Anne K. Stewart, died October 22 after a lengthy illness. Anne chaired the United Way Task Force that organized Hospice Savannah in 1979, served as the first Board president and became our first executive director in 1981. We extend our sincere gratitude and condolences to her family. Here is the link to Anne's obituary.

Hospice Savannah Tree at Oglethorpe Mall
In just three short weeks, the Oglethorpe Mall's tree in center court will again be decorated as a "Tree of Love" for the holiday season. Stop by between the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve to chat with our board members, staff or volunteers about our services and buy a paper dove to hang in memory of your loved ones. We appreciate all the various ways the community supports us! Click here to read the full list of donors from last month. Thank you.
