This newsletter provides information and updates on the implementation of House Bill (HB) 21-1198, Health Care Billing Requirements for Indigent Patients, otherwise known as Hospital Discounted Care. Low-income patients who aren't enrolled in Health First Colorado or Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) will have the opportunity to apply for financial assistance or charity care programs at the health care facility where they receive care.

Hospital Discounted Care Updates

Bill Implementation Stakeholder Meeting

The next stakeholder meeting for the ongoing implementation of SB 24-116 and HB 24-1399 is scheduled for Monday, January 13 beginning at 11:00 a.m. The meeting will be held via Zoom and no prior registration is necessary. Nancy Dolson will be presenting the draft Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Payment Qualification. This draft will also be presented to the CICP Advisory Council at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, January 27 at 1:00 p.m. and at the February CHASE Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 25 at 3:00 p.m. Comments can be submitted at any of these three meetings or via email to hcpf_CICPCorrespondence@state.co.us - please include "DSH Payment Qualification Comments" in the subject line.

Office Hours

HCPF is holding office hours every other Wednesday at 9 a.m. No registration is required. The Zoom link and call in information are on the Hospital Discounted Care website.
