Hospital Discounted Care Newsletter

This newsletter provides information and updates on the implementation of House Bill (HB) 21-1198, Health Care Billing Requirements for Indigent Patients, otherwise known as Hospital Discounted Care. Low-income patients who aren't enrolled in Health First Colorado or Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) will have the opportunity to apply for financial assistance or charity care programs at the health care facility where they receive care.

Hospital Discounted Care Updates

Updates to the Operations Manual

An updated version of the manual has been uploaded to the Hospital Discounted Care website and you should begin using this version immediately. The two sections of the manual that were updated with new or clarified language were:

Update required information to be included in the Determination Notice for Hospital Discounted Care. We want to ensure it's clear that there should be one notice for patients determined eligible and a separate notice for patients determined ineligible for Hospital Discounted Care/CICP as there are differences in the requirements between the two.

Clarification on Third Party payments

Office Hours

HCPF is holding office hours every other Wednesday at 9 a.m. No registration is required. The Zoom link and call in information are on the Hospital Discounted Care website.
