Key Dates

Remember that your move-out date is approaching! You are required to move out of residence by 3 pm the day following your last scheduled exam, or if you are writing on April 22, you are required to leave by 1 pm on April 23.

Looking For All Things Move-Out?

The Move-Out Hub lists all key dates, including mail depot closures, details on extension and stayover requests, donation drop-off locations, off-campus resources, and more.

Does your room need something fixed?

If your room needs any repairs, you must submit a Maintenance Request Order now to allow our team enough time to address any necessary repairs and ensure that your room meets the move-out requirements; otherwise, you may be charged a Damage Fee.

Mail Depot Reminders

The mail depot will close for the academic year on April 23 at 1 pm, and all parcels must be picked up by this time. Any items not collected by this deadline will be returned to the sender or donated. Remind your friends and family not to mail you anything, as it will not arrive and be processed before you leave. Redirect your mail to your new address or change your address directly with credit card companies, cell phone companies, banks, etc.

If you have any questions, please contact resmaildepot@queensu.ca

Support a Wasteless Move-Out

  • Donate your gently used, unwanted clothes and shoesPlastic bags are available in every common room, garbage room, and laundry room. Ask your Don if you need help finding one. Find your closest donation bin here.
  • Pack your belongings with free, reusable boxes available at all three dining halls, Lazy Scholar, Location 21, and Wally’s.
  • Return your GOOD TO GO container and carabiner at a participating retail location to get a refund on your $5 Flex deposit.
  • Consider donating an unused dining hall meal to a peer in need before leaving campus. Simply ask a cashier to Swipe It Forward, and a future meal will be provided to a student requiring support to access a nutritious meal.
  • If you have unopened, non-perishable food, consider donating to the food bank. Collections are taking place at designated boxes available in your common room, the Lazy Scholar, and Location 21.

Amnesty Period for Return of University/Other Property: March 30 to April 13

We need your help to maintain the wonderful community we've built together. Unfortunately, we've had a few incidents of university property being damaged or stolen in our residence buildings this year. Not only does this show disrespect to your peers, but it also puts an extra burden on our hardworking Facilities staff who keep our spaces safe and clean.

We're counting on you to retrieve these items! If you've come across any stolen or damaged items, we invite you to return them to the Residence Conduct & Support Office in Victoria Hall C110 – no questions asked.

The return period continues until April 13, from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 12pm noon and 1–4 pm. After this period, any stolen or damaged items found will lead to sanctions and restitution charges to cover repair costs. Remember, you're responsible for your residence room and everything inside it, no matter how those items got there.

Second-Hand Shuffle

Looking for something meaningful to do between exams? Second-Hand Shuffle, Queen’s sustainable move out event, is gearing up and we’re looking for volunteers to make it happen.

Second-Hand Shuffle rehomes quality items that students no longer need at the end of the academic year. Drop off what you don’t want, pick up free, gently used items, and help reduce landfill waste while supporting your peers.

Would you like to volunteer? You can sign up here.

Interested in dropping off or picking up items? Visit our website for dates, times, and full details.

Support your transition to off-campus living

Our residence booths are wrapping up for the term, but if you would like to connect with the Off-Campus Student Support Team from the OCLA office, you can find them at the following times and locations:

  • Monday, April 13, 12–3 pm, Victoria Hall
  • Wednesday, April 15, 4–7 pm, Ban Righ East Foyer

The Off-Campus Student Living Guide is intended to support you as you navigate neighbourhood relations, City of Kingston regulations, tenant rights, living with housemates, and much more.
