Spread a Little Kindness for Global Wellness Day... and Always
Kindness is an ideal that is easily accessible to all of us. We know that a small kindness can make our journeys lighter and more enjoyable. Though it may seem simple to the point of insignificance, many cultures throughout the world and history have recognized kindness as a powerful virtue. We can make the choice to act from the best place within ourselves at any time, while simultaneously recognizing the highest potential in another with the smallest of acts, nourishing the seed of hope in each soul we encounter.
Whether giving way to someone in traffic or letting someone go ahead of us in line, donating money or sharing our resources in a crisis, we actively create a universe of kindness and giving with every choice we make. The smallest gesture can bring a smile to light the shadow of an unpleasant situation or remove tension from a difficult task, but it's effects can echo and extend far beyond the moment.
Kindness expands the light within us and reaches out to touch the light in others as well, giving us all a glimpse of the glow that has the power to enlighten our world. As we celebrate Global Wellness Day this month, do something kind and enjoy its benefits for weeks to come.

How to Close Down Your Garden For the Long Hot Summer
|
When students, “Gardens of Hope” teacher/sponsors (Holly Nilsen and Cari Gallagher/others), Principal (Stephanie Cook) and volunteers arrived on campus, they were presented with a fully overgrown garden they had planted, cultivated, harvested and had gone to seed. Following PPT guidelines, the final result: A weeded, cut back, picked, tarped, mulched, secured garden site, along with the addition of covered pathways. Students felt supported, knowing that all their efforts during the year, will mostly likely be salvaged when the school bell rings in August.

Enjoy Beauty In Your Garden All Year Long
|
|
Butterflies add unique beauty to any garden. If you haven't already planted butterfly attracting bushes, this is the time of year to start, with nectar and caterpillar food plants, that will give you an endless “show of nature” in your very own yard.
Sitting on a lounge chair watching butterflies is relaxing, fun, and good for the soul. You will marvel at the sight of these flittering creatures, making circles and dives, moving from plant to plant. Kids love to witness the lifecyle of butterflies, first as caterpillars that form a chrysalis, then later emerges into a beautiful butterfly.
If your yard does not call home to many varieties, you can gradually build up a nice population of several species in a year or two. The trick is ...

Kids Day - Riverbend Park
|
|
It was Kids Day with the Joseph P. Cory Foundation and PBC Parks and Recreation, but everyone can be a kid on this day!
Hundreds of children and their families enjoyed a "turn of the century" event on Saturday, May 14, 2021 at Riverbend Park, Jupiter, Florida. Complete with this homestead farm's saw mill, sugar cane press, archery range, wildlife exhibition and more, one could get the feel of what life might have been during 1900.
The foundation staff and volunteers were on hand to walk attendees around our Garden of Hope, answer questions, pick herbs and veggies, and enjoy their curiosity; young and old. Many people were veteran gardeners, and gained information on how to navigate our up and coming hot summer, newbie gardeners better understood the value of growing your own food, and its benefits: mind, body, and spirit.
President and Founder Nada Cory, presented a "Ready, Set, Grow" lesson, and families chose seeds to be planted in their biodegradable plant cup kits under the shady chicken hut.
