Hello,
Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. We will try to do our part by regularly providing patient empowering information and resources via email and social media (please forward and share with your connections wherever you can). We will also be holding our largest event of the year, the SEA Blue Prostate Cancer Walk and Run in Chicago on September 26th (read more about that below). Please join us to promote awareness by sharing information, providing support, or just by having a conversation. Please let us know what you are up to!
Prostate Cancer Calendar
What prostate cancer support and education events are happening during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month? Check the calendar! The Prostate Cancer Calendar webpage is a resource for the entire prostate cancer community. If you are looking for a prostate cancer event, please check the calendar. If you have a support group, webinar, seminar, or other prostate cancer event that will benefit the community, you can post it right to the calendar at www.prostatecancercalendar.org.
Us TOO 2021 Webinar Series
Us TOO has finished its 2021 webinar series, "What is Right for Me in My Prostate Cancer Treatment?" If you missed any of the series, or would like to watch any of the episodes again, you can find them all posted at www.ustoo.org/ustoo-video. Topics include: Bone Health and Nutrition, Shared Decision Making, Biomarkers, Imaging, and Genetics and Genomics. Thanks to all the doctors, sponsors, and attendees for making this series a success.
Other Events
Join Dr. Adam Murphy and Dr. Jeffrey Albaugh on Monday, September 20th at 6pm Central for a live, virtual discussion about prostate cancer and its impact on relationships. Patients, partners, and family members are invited. Register at www.cancer.northwestern.edu/events/public/prostate.
For those in Tempe, AZ on September 25th, join Prostate On-Site Project for their Walk & Bag 4 POP Cornhole Tournament. For more information and registration, visit www.prostatecheckup.org/walk-for-pop.
Veterans Survey
Veterans have an incidence rate for prostate cancer that is twice that of the general population. ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer is committed to bringing the Veterans community the resources, tools, and education needed to fight and detect prostate cancer even in its earliest stages. If you are a Veteran, please consider providing your feedback in a survey to help ZERO provide the most impactful programs to improve the lives of men and families. ZERO will use this information to help make decisions on how to best meet the educational and awareness needs of Veterans who are at risk of or have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It may also be used for policy research purposes. This survey is anonymous unless you decide to provide your contact information at the end of the survey. The survey should only take between 10-20 minutes to complete and it will be open through September. To take the survey, please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VC9RJBK.
SEA Blue 2021
The 2021 SEA Blue Prostate Cancer Walk and Run will take place September 26th in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Those not in the Chicago area can join us by either fundraising virtually or by creating a Satellite SEA Blue event. This event helps us to raise funds to offer Support, Education, Advocacy, and Awareness (the SEA in SEA Blue) at no cost to those affected by prostate cancer. Register or donate today at www.seablueprostatewalk.org.
If you want to wear your support for SEA Blue, you can purchase shirts, hats, masks, or other SEA Blue items from our online store. A portion of all sales will go to SEA Blue to help those affected by prostate cancer. The shop will be open until September 6th at Midnight. Do good. Look good. Feel good. Visit the SEA Blue shop at: greendoorpromo.com/product-category/sea-blue.
