NC4Vets Journal – Fall 2025 Edition Now Available

The NCVets Journal – Fall 2025 Edition, published by the Triangle Business Journal in partnership with DMH/DD/SUS and the Governor’s Institute, is now available. This publication is part of the NC4Vets initiative, which aims to connect North Carolina’s Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF) with essential behavioral health resources, community programs, and support networks.

The Division’s involvement reflects a continued commitment to improving access to care and strengthening the systems that serve veterans across the state. Through collaborative efforts like NC4Vets, the Division helps ensure that veterans are informed, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Inclusion Connects Adds Length of Time on Waitlist Metrics to the Innovations Waiver Waitlist Dashboard

Inclusion Connects has released new metrics on the Innovations Waiver Waitlist Dashboard. Data now includes how long people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) have been on the waitlist. Users can view wait time data by county and by Tailored Plan, helping identify where gaps may exist.

The data shows the average time individuals currently on the waitlist have already waited. It does not show how long it will take for someone to start receiving Innovations Waiver services. The Inclusion Connects team continues to investigate further and will provide updates on the dashboard.

By leveraging this data, we move closer to ensuring that every person with IDD knows about and receives the support they need—whether they’re currently on the waiver or waiting. A pre-recorded walkthrough of these updates will soon be available on the Inclusion Connects Updates webpage. Questions regarding the dashboard can be submitted to dmhiddcontact@dhhs.nc.gov.

NCDHHS Receives Low Income Home and

Energy Assistance Program Funds

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has received funding for the 2026 Low Income Home and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) from federal partners. While the funding was delayed following the federal government shutdown, NCDHHS and county staff have been preparing so they would be ready to open for new Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) applications once federal funds were received. LIEAP and the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) are two programs supported by LIHEAP block grant funding. North Carolinians who are eligible for LIEAP assistance and did not receive an auto-renewal or notice of automated payment can apply for benefits starting on December 10, 2025.
