DMH/DD/SUS Partners with Hazel Health to Provide Virtual Mental Health Services for K-12 Students in NC

Students across North Carolina will soon have access to high quality, virtual mental health care through Hazel Health supported by an investment from NCDHHS and United Healthcare. This is part of a broader effort announced last year to provide virtual school-centered mental health care for up to one million students across select stated nationwide. Nearly 400,000 students, almost 30% of North Carolina's K-12 student population will have access to Hazel Health's mental health services.

Inclusion Works Strategic Plan Posted for Public Comment

The Inclusion Works Strategic Plan is posted for public comment on the Inclusion Works website. Comments can be submitted to DMHIDDCONTACT@dhhs.nc.gov through May 31, 2025. Inclusion Works is a NCDHHS Initiative to promote Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities.

The Brain Injury Association of NC requests your input to identify gaps and needs in brain injury services across North Carolina. SAMHSA Mental Health Awareness Month Toolkit

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness month, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has released a toolkit offering resources in a that can be downloaded and shared to awareness about mental health in May and beyond. The toolkit includes key messages and themes for each week in May, social media content, graphics, and promotional materials. Messaging encourages acceptance and support of people living with a mental illness.

Brain Injury Advisory Council Meeting

The purpose of the Brain Injury Advisory Council (BIAC) is to review the nature and cause of traumatic and other acquired brain injuries in North Carolina.


The Council also makes recommendations to the Governor, the General Assembly, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services regarding the planning, development, funding, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide service delivery system to address the needs of brain injury survivors. There are virtual and in-person attendance options available. The public is invited to attend.
