Request For Proposals

New Non-Law Enforcement Transportation Program

NCDHHS is investing $20 million in non-law enforcement transportation, a promising practice of providing trauma-informed transportation for people in mental health crises who need to be transported from emergency rooms to residential treatment. The new transportation program will initially operate in two regions of the state, which will be identified through a competitive request for proposal (RFP) process. The RFP is now open and eligible transportation vendors can access and apply for the RFP on the NCDHHS website through February 28, 2025.

NC Medicaid Policy Posted for Public Comment: Clinically Managed Population Specific High-Intensity Residential Program

NC Medicaid posted clinical coverage policy 8D-4, Clinically Managed Population Specific High-Intensity Residential Program on Feb. 10 for a 15-day public comment period. This service is for beneficiaries with both substance use disorder (SUD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). This is an American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria, Third Edition, Level 3.3 service that provides a 24-hour structured recovery environment in combination with high-intensity clinical services. Submit comments by Feb. 24, 2025 to medicaid.public.comment@dhhs.nc.gov.
