Inclusion Works Provider Innovation Program

Now Accepting Applications

The Inclusion Works Provider Innovation Program is an opportunity for I/DD Employment Service Providers in NC to expand competitive integrated employment. Providers will receive personalized tools and technical assistance at no cost and $75,000 in financial incentives for participating.


To be eligible for this program, you must be an Employment Service Provider Agency currently offering non-CIE jobs to individuals with I/DD. Applications are being accepted through Saturday, May 31, 2025. Please reach out to Claire Colligan with any questions.

DMH/DD/SUS Team Members Participate in NAMIWalks 

The DMH/IDD/SUS NAMIWalks team joined over one hundred other teams for the 2025 NAMIWalks North Carolina fundraiser over the weekend. More than 1200 participants collectively raised over $140,000 by walking one or two miles at Perimeter Park in Morrisville. Over 25 staff members joined our team, Together4MentalHealth, including DMH/DD/SUS Director Kelly Crosbie.


NAMIWalks is NAMI's oldest signature fundraising program and is held each year in May during National Mental Health Awareness Month. Over 190 community Walks are presented by NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates from coast to coast to raise awareness, funds and hope for individuals with mental illness, their loved ones and their communities.

NC Brain Injury Needs and Gaps Survey Deadline Extended

The Brain Injury Association of NC requests your input to identify gaps and needs in brain injury services across North Carolina. Your feedback will help BIANC identify unmet needs, improve programs, and advocate for stronger support across the state. Submit your anonymous survey through Saturday, May 31 2025.

NCDHHS Expands Student Loan Repayment for

Rural Health Care Providers

To encourage more health care providers to serve in rural areas, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is offering the opportunity for educational loan repayments. This program, known as the North Carolina Primary Care Physician Incentive, is available to qualifying physicians committed to delivering high-quality, comprehensive care in independent private practices in certain rural counties.

NC Medicaid Hosts Webinar on Recently Renewed 1115 Waiver

Join NC Medicaid for a webinar about the recently renewed 1115 waiver. The new waiver extends federal approval for North Carolina’s Medicaid Managed Care program and its efforts to improve access to evidence-based substance use disorder treatments. It also allows the option for the Healthy Opportunities Pilots, which invest in non-medical drivers of health like food and housing, to be taken statewide. 


North Carolina now has the option to implement additional new initiatives, in line with the State’s overarching goals, focused on streamlining Medicaid enrollment for children and youth, improving care for the reentry population, investing in behavioral health and intellectual and development disabilities (I/DD) technology and bolstering the behavioral health and long term services and supports (LTSS) workforce.

The North Carolina Institute of Medicine

Veterans' Health Task Force Kick-Off

Join the NC Institute of Medicine (NCIOM) and DMH/DD/SUS Director Kelly Crosbie to learn about an upcoming NCIOM task force on Veterans' health and connect with those who serve NC's Veterans and their families. The task force will identify actions to improve the access and experience of care in community-based health care settings for those who have served in the military, their families, and caregivers. With support from the NCDHHS DMH/DD/SUS and NC AARP, NCIOM will be convening the task force from Summer 2025 to Spring 2026. A final report with task force recommendations will be published by Fall 2026.

NASDDDS Features NCDHHS Accessible Communications Campaign During New Communication Affinity Group Meeting

Join the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services for the new Communication Affinity meeting to explore optimizing communication despite barriers and engage of communities in our work.


The inaugural meeting will feature NCDHHS DMH/DD/SUS External Affairs Director Charles Rousseau for a discussion about the Department's Accessible Communications Campaign. Part of this campaign included recently releasing the 1915(i) and Innovations Waiver toolkits and updating the DMH/DD/SUS website.
