Governor Josh Stein and NCDHHS Secretary Dev Sangvai Hold Roundtable in Nash County on NC Medicaid in Rural Communities


Governor Josh Stein and North Carolina Health and Human Services Secretary Dev Sangvai joined rural health providers and community leaders for a roundtable discussion earlier this month on how access to health care coverage through N.C. Medicaid is a lifeline for rural communities. With Congress considering cuts to the program, leaders noted rural communities would be particularly hard hit.

N.C. Senate Confirms Secretary Dev Sangvai


The N.C. Senate has officially confirmed Dr. Dev Sangvai to lead the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Sangvai received unanimous support from a key Senate committee last Wednesday and won support from the full Senate shortly afterwards.

New Inclusion Works Data Webpage

We have new data about Inclusion Works – our program to ensure people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) can choose workplaces that provide competitive integrated employment (CIE).

Our new Inclusion Works Data Summary webpage has launched. You can now see a range of statewide data for employment services for people with I/DD. This webpage will be updated periodically with the latest data.

NCDHHS Seeks Feedback on Medicaid Managed Care Plans

NCDHHS is asking for feedback on how to improve services for beneficiaries, providers, health systems and plans under the Managed Care System. Since the 2023 Medicaid launch in North Carolina, NCDHHS has gathered valuable insights from stakeholders and has shared that information in a paper called

Improving Member Health Through Managed Care Program Enhancements: North Carolina’s Approach to Standard Plan Re-Procurement.


The paper and a summary are available on the NC Medicaid Policy Papers webpage.

 

NCDHHS seeks public feedback on this paper by Wednesday, May 7, 2025, by one of three methods:

NCCDD to Host I/DD Listening Session


Join the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities for an I/DD listening session to discuss the most important issues impacting the I/DD community. This session will be used to share key share priorities with state and national policy leaders and to shape NCCDD’s next Five Year Plan. NCCDD is a leader in advocating and educating policymakers on I/DD issues and making systems better for the I/DD community.
