North Carolina Health and Human Services Secretary Dev Sangvai traveled to western North Carolina on Tuesday to participate in a Day of Service in coordination with Governor Josh Stein and other cabinet leaders. Recovery efforts continue to assist the more than four and a half million people who live in the 39 counties included in the federal disaster declaration following Hurricane Helene.

Standard Plan Contract Extension | |
The NC Department of Health and Human Services is leveraging its existing authority to extend current Standard Plan contracts for an additional year. The next procurement and implementation processes will shift to 2026 and 2027. Currently, the Department is focusing on implementation work to support the launch of the Children and Families Specialty Plan (CFSP) that is set to begin on December 1. It was important to prioritize the CFSP and not take away from resources needed to support a successful launch. Additionally, we will be developing a new contract that incorporates significant learnings over the past few years and ensures the most value for our state in the next contract cycle. | |
Join the North Carolina Black Youth Wellness Advisory Board | |
The North Carolina Black Youth Wellness Advisory Board invites young adults ages 18-24 with a passion for mental health to serve as leaders on the advisory board. Board members advocate for youth mental health, promote suicide prevention, provide peer perspectives, and support community engagement. Stipends are provided for participation. Applications will be accepted through February 1, 2025. | |

This session will also discuss at a broader level dental care for individuals with a range of disabilities.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with CHESS Health and Trillium Health Resources to provide critically needed support for North Carolinians working toward recovery from substance use disorders. Join DMH/DD/SUS for a webinar to learn about the resources available through the Connections App, a free digital tool that provides peer support and care management tools for individuals during treatment and recovery.
