A Record Year: 2024's U.S. Hotel Construction Pipeline Growth | | | | |
|
U.S. RevPAR +4.1% y/y last week; Stronger business/group travel for the week after MLK Day/Inauguration.
As Truist Securities wrote, “Overall U.S. RevPAR was +4.1% y/y for the week ending 2/1/2025, per STR/CoStar, above the prior week's result of -0.2% y/y and slightly below the trailing 10-week average of +4.3% y/y. Higher-rated hotels, group properties, and Top 25 markets generally had stronger results last week largely due to the continued impact of MLK Day shift being one week later in 2025 versus 2024. Last week was a non-holiday week following MLK Day and the Inauguration in the prior week; business travel was understandably stronger after the holiday week. Luxury and Upper Upscale RevPAR was +11-13% y/y on Tuesday/ Wednesday last week. Upscale RevPAR: +4.1% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +3.4% y/y.”
