As Truist Securities wrote, “Overall U.S. RevPAR was +17.4% y/y for the week ending 1/18/2025, per STR/ CoStar, above the prior week's result of -13.2% y/y and above the trailing 10-week average of +7.0% y/y. Last week's headline results were aided by several factors. The MLK Day holiday was in the y/y comp, whereas the 2025 comp was a holiday-free workweek; the result was a stronger workweek RevPAR and stronger Friday-Saturday RevPAR leading into the 2025 holiday. Other factors included the Healthcare conference in San Francisco shifting one week later and D.C. benefitting from early Inauguration demand. L.A. RevPAR was just +3.7% y/y. We assume mixed impact from fires. Upscale RevPAR: +14.8% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +11.9% y/y”.
