From the Course to the Conference Room

Following the Washington DC Area Charity Golf Tournament at Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA, hoteliers gathered at the Washington DC Area Hotel Owners Conference & Trade Show (HOC) in Herndon, VA, for a day focused on advocacy, education, and business growth.

Attendees heard from Congressman Suhas Subramanyam and State Delegate JJ Singh during the General Session, gained valuable market intelligence and profitability strategies from Mark Mazzocco of Kalibri, and participated in a critical discussion on human trafficking awareness led by investigators from the Prince William County Special Victims Unit.

AAHOA Applauds Oklahoma Voters for Rejecting Statewide Minimum Wage Mandate

Oklahoma voters rejected State Question 832, a ballot initiative that would have more than doubled the state's minimum wage – from $7.25 per hour to $15 per hour by 2029 – and imposed automatic annual increases tied to inflation. Voters rejected the proposed minimum wage mandate by a 13-point margin, helping employers across the state to avoid an increase that many small business owners feared would significantly raise operating costs and make it more difficult to hire, invest, and grow.

Better Coverage, Lower Costs

AAHOA is developing an insurance program built specifically for hotel owners – with the goal of stronger coverage, better pricing, and institutional-quality solutions tailored to our industry.

Your participation is critical to helping shape the future of this program, which will target approximately 20 percent premium savings. We're inviting members to authorize the release of their current insurance information to help guide the development of this new program. All participation data is collected by a third-party law firm, is confidential and privileged, and is not accessible to AAHOA internally. Learn more here.

Hotel Smart Technology Delivers Both Efficiency and Savings

Operational costs, just like everything else, are skyrocketing. And smart tech is helping hotel operators save big money, optimizing ops and keeping properties running at maximum efficiency. So efficient, in fact, that some hotel owners are seeing a 45 percent reduction in costs for line items like HVAC and lighting. In the June issue of Today's Hotelier, we explore behind-the-scenes smart hotel tech, how it works, and how it delivers major savings for hotels.
