The Hotel Owners Conferences & Trade Shows Season Has Officially Begun! | | |
The first Hotel Owners Conference & Trade Show of 2025 took place last week in South Central Texas with a strong showing from local hoteliers and industry leaders. It was the first HOC under the leadership of AAHOA Chairman Kamalesh (KP) Patel. South Central Texas Regional Director Vikash K. AAHOA Participates in NYU Hospitality Industry Investment Conference | | |
AAHOA participated in the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference in New York City, where the association's leadership contributed to two discussions on key issues affecting the hotel industry.
AAHOA Chairman Kamalesh (KP) Patel moderated a panel focused on labor challenges and regulatory pressures, addressing how hotel owners can maintain performance while navigating workforce and compliance issues. President & CEO Laura Lee Blake led a session titled “Franchising Reviewed,” which discussed how owners and brands can improve efficiency, profitability, and alignment.

Amar Shah's The Patel Motel Story Featured at the Tribeca Film Festival | | The Patel Motel Story, a short-film directed by Amar Shah and Rahul Rohatgi, will debut this month at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Last weekend very weak for all – concerning for summer leisure | | As Truist Securities wrote, "Overall U.S. RevPAR was -1.9% y/y for the week ending 5/31/2025, per STR/CoStar, below the prior week's result of +1.1% y/y and below the trailing 10-week average of +0.3% y/y. Last week was a clean comp that included the end of Memorial Day weekend. There was continued bifurcation with Luxury relative strength aided by high-end group for early and midweek but a sizable decel into the weekend. Limited service, especially Economy chain scale was very soft. Saturday RevPAR was -5% y/y nationally and soft for all chain scales from Luxury -4% to Economy -8%. Last weekend results are concerning for summer leisure. Upscale RevPAR: -1.0% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: -2.9% y/y." | | | | |
