AAHOA Insights: Nobody Is Coming to Cover the Shift | Travel Companies and DMOs Work to Patch Critical PHP Flaws | Hotel Owners Want More Clarity, Understanding from Brands | U.S. RevPAR +12.6% y/y last week; Strong results, partly aided by easy gov’t shut-down comp | | |
As Truist Securities wrote, "Overall, U.S. RevPAR was +12.6% y/y for the week ending 10/24/2026, per STR/ CoStar, above the prior week's result of +5.5% y/y and the 10-week average of +7.8% y/y. Last week's results partly benefited from lapping last year's government shutdown, showing strong RevPAR growth across the chain scales (+9-15% y/y) driven by gains in both Occupancy (+4.8%) and ADR (+7.4%). This easy y/y comparison we ballpark as having added approx. 4pts. to last week's headline Occupancy growth (+2-3 pts. for Luxury/Upper Upscale and +5 pts. for Midscale/Economy) and 1-2 pts. to ADR growth. Weekday RevPAR outperformed the weekend, though we note weekend results were also strong (Mon-Thu +14-15% vs Fri/Sat/Sun +8-13%). Group and Transient both saw double-digit RevPAR growth last week, with Transient (+14.5%) outperforming Group by ~300 bps. Upscale RevPAR: +11.4% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +12.5% y/y."
