Los Angeles Wage Hike Will Take Effect | A referendum to delay Los Angeles' Olympic Wage Ordinance fell short of the required valid signatures, and the ordinance will now take effect. Hotel worker wages will increase from $22.50 in 2025 to $25 in 2026, $27.50 in 2027, and ultimately to $30 in 2028. "This ruling is a major setback for Los Angeles' small business hotel owners, who will shoulder the burden of this well-intentioned but misguided mandate," said AAHOA Chairman Kamalesh (KP) Patel.

U.S. RevPAR -0.7% y/y last week; Clean comp with similar bifurcated trends during a holiday week.
As Truist Securities wrote, "Overall, U.S. RevPAR was -0.7% y/y for the week ending 9/6/2025, per STR/CoStar, below the prior week's result of +0.2% y/y and above the trailing 10-week average of -1.3% y/y. Last week's results reflected similar levels of bifurcation as seen in previous weeks combined with light Group demand given the Labor Day holiday week. Labor Day took place on the same week for both 2024 and 2025 -- a clean holiday comp. Luxury was the relative chain scale outperformer again with RevPAR +2.7% y/y, above Upper Upscale by 250 bps and above Economy by 690 bps. Sunday RevPAR (leisure read-through) was soft at -2.6% y/y (Lux +2.5% / Econ -5.1% / Vegas -34.0%). Upscale RevPAR: -1.5% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: -1.7% y/y."
