East T-STEM Academy
Inspire. Challenge. Equip.
Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity.
By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.

Every week we highlight what our students do OUTSIDE of the classroom... send us your pictures and shout outs!

St Jude Marathon 2018
The St. Jude marathon follows a scenic Boston-qualifying course through the city of Memphis, starting outside FedExForum. Near mile 5, the course passes through the St. Jude campus , where patients, their families and other onlookers gather to cheer. Runners will also pass through Overton Park, scenic neighborhoods and several Memphis historic areas before finishing in front of a crowd on Union Avenue . After the race, participants can join the finish festival at AutoZone Park .

The Stroud Family participated in the race in honor of a beloved family member. Way to go, Matthew and the Stroud Family!

Teacher Spotlight

T. Mark Harris
Hello! My name is Mark Harris and I've been teaching since 2008. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a banker for over 15 years. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Christian Brothers University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Memphis. I've taught Keyboarding, Personal Finance, Interactive Multimedia Design & Presentation, and AP Computer Science Principles. I'm thrilled and excited to be a part of the East T-STEM family.
Did you know that Mr. Harris participated in the
AP Computer Science Principles Summit
@ Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, California?
This was the opportunity and professional development of a lifetime and only 100 teachers from thousands of applicants throughout the country were selected.
We were the hottest seat in the house at the 901 School Choice Fair Saturday!
We won the Superintendent's Choice Award for High Schools!

Way to go, Ms. Keys, Mr. Hewitt and Mr. Hernandez. Special thanks to Mustangs Josh Russell and Tyti Pope for working the booth with us Saturday!
