Habitat House #35 dedicated
|
We have now finished and dedicated our 35th home on June 7. The new homeowner, Beni Welin, is a disabled single mother of 3 children who has overcome many obstacles while living outside of town. She now has better access to her Lewiston support system and can reduce her household food insecurity due to a strained budget from the long-distance commute.

Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers and volunteer businesses and in-kind donors who helped make this house build possible!

Meet Our Guest Speaker
Molly Luke is the CEO and founder of Mrs. Molly Luke, LLC, out of Lewiston. She grew up doing drywall with her dad who owned his own business, and worked in the business since she was 12. Her dad moved into General Construction, giving her most of the drywall work, but teaching her the other facets of construction as well. She took a break from working, got married, had kids, then went back to work for a few years. When God moved her to start her own drywall business, she did so in 2019. Her business has grown from one post on Facebook, and she now does drywall, trim, painting, tile, and general remodeling.

The Habitat offices have moved to our new building
|
We have purchased the Clark Communications building at 2200 8th Ave., Lewiston. Our administration offices have relocated there and renovations are ongoing to transition desks into the open office area.
LCV HFH will benefit from this purchase by reducing overall rental costs for two separate locations. The ReStore will remain at 1633 G Street in Lewiston until later this summer.
“We have worked hard for the last five months with our realtor, Becka Picchena, and our Board to visualize and outline what we see for our opportunities in this building," said Deb Snyder, Executive Director of the local Habitat. “We are looking forward to our entire staff working closer together under one roof. The Board and staff has worked hard and put in many hours to complete the necessary explorations of this opportunity.”
VOLUNTEERS OF ALL SKILL LEVELS NEED
We are needing volunteer to continue the small projects we have left on this building. Contact Stephanie at volunteer@lewisclarkhabitat.org to sign up to help us with any of these projects - painting, cleaning, removing shelves, updating walls, and more!
| Celebrating Affordable Housing Month | Thank you to the City of Clarkston Mayor Monika Lawrence for her support with the Affordable Housing Month Proclamation! | |
At the most basic level, what makes a home affordable comes down to simple math. We cannot remain a healthy and stable community without adequate affordable housing. Businesses need employees and customers, schools need teachers and students, restaurants need cooks and patrons. In an economically sustainable community, there are enough people for each of these roles.
In May, the L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity celebrated Affordable Housing Month as a great opportunity for our community to collectively advocate for this opportunity for everyone! When we help our neighbors overcome unexpected expenses and allow them to remain at home or to become safely housed, we have an immediate and lasting impact on the economic health and vitality of our community.
Thanks, again, to the City of Clarkston for the Proclamation of their support.
