With about five weeks left in this legislative session, the tension between the House and the Senate is starting to build. A
TRS proposal stalled this week when its hearing was postponed in the House until April 25. The Senate passed its
property tax reform bill, but it faces steep hurdles in the House.
Active school employees – don’t forget to vote in the election for an active employee representative on the TRS Board of Trustees by May 6. The governor will select the trustee from among the top three vote-getters. (In this case, with only three candidates, all three will be sent to the governor. However, vote totals may have an impact on the governor’s consideration.)
