April 2025

Nicaragua

April remembers:

“Many years ago, I met a beautiful young woman, Martha Suyen, when she was waiting for customers in a brothel in downtown Managua. She had her four-month-old son in a cardboard box at her feet. She seemed desperate. I invited her to come to House of Hope for the medical clinic, and she did. For several years, Martha Suyen was in and out of our Tuesday morning program. Eventually, she moved to our residential program with her son, where she struggled greatly and persevered longer than anyone else to complete the program.”

After spending six years in residence, Martha Suyen graduated and moved into her new graduate home. However, she fell away and went back to the sinful lifestyle of her past. God never gave up on her. Three years ago, she fully surrendered her life to Christ and has been faithfully living in freedom, walking in obedience, and experiencing the joy of the Lord.

With the microgrant generous donors like you provided, Martha Suyen supports herself and her son, Carlos, through her small roadside stand selling coffee, other drinks, and snacks. She joyfully says, “I am very proud of who I am today because God has set me free from many things.”

We are so excited to share that Martha Suyen and Carlos have moved back into their graduate home near House of Hope. This move provides them with more space than the single room they had been sharing and she now receives discipleship and support as she continues to grow in her faith, and Carlos continues his high school education. For several years, Martha Suyen’s shame had kept her from House of Hope and the blessing of her graduate home.

We are so proud of her for pursuing the Lord and living a life that honors Him, and are very grateful that your support makes stories like hers possible.

Honduras

House of Hope is so grateful for the doors the Lord has opened at our new Sunseri ministry site in San Pedro Sula. The ministry that began last July has grown into a steady weekly outreach, with our staff faithfully showing up and building trust with the women.

Sunseri is a large brothel area where women work both out of their rooms and on nearby street corners. It is a dangerous and highly criminal environment. The women live in extreme poverty, often paying rent by the day, which leads to frequent eviction and constant instability in their lives. Yet, even here, we are seeing the light of Christ begin to break through.

There are currently around a dozen women who attend the weekly House of Hope gathering, along with many children. We are especially thankful that all of the school-aged children involved in the program have been able to receive uniforms and go to school this year. Each week, our team spends time with the women and children and shares the hope of the Gospel, giving them the opportunity to hear the truth and grow in their understanding of who God is.

God is moving in Sunseri! Pray that He will continue to draw these women and their children to Himself. Thank you for praying with and standing alongside us in this work.

Bolivia

Eloina came out of darkness and is now spreading the light! She left prostitution years ago and lived at House of Hope in Coachbamba, Bolivia for several years. Then Eloina received a call from the Lord to evangelize. For the past two years, she has been going to the small village, Cingahni, which she is from, because it has no churches, and no teaching about God.

She and a group from our Bolivian church have been sharing the gospel of Jesus to the people, young and old. They have been taking a small amount of medical attention, needed food, and supplies. After being estranged from her family for many years, Eloina had the joy of praying with her own father to receive Christ. She asks for prayer for her mother and others in the village who have not yet opened their hearts to the Lord.

Thank you for your faithful support that makes these stories possible! Pray that these young trafficking survivors allow the Lord to bind and heal their wounds.
