October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this month is dedicated to bringing awareness and support to survivors and victims of Intimate Partner Violence. 

•  According to national statistics 1 in 4 women, 1 in 7 men, and 1 in 3 teens will be victims of domestic violence in their lifetime.
• Over 10 million people report being abused by their intimate partner every year, making up 15% of violent crimes reported in the U.S.
•  Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and children in the U.S.

Regrettably domestic violence continues being a major public health crisis and now more than ever we need your help to continue amplifying the voices of victims and survivors needing support and guidance through their healing journey. Last year House of Ruth answered over 1,600 Hotline calls and reached more than 4,000 adults and teens through community prevention education.

Purple Thursday

Purple Thursday is a National Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign that unites advocates and supporters to stand up against intimate partner violence.

We encourage you to wear purple to show support for those who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and let them know that help is available for them and their families.

To participate in the ‘Purple Thursday’ campaign wear purple on Thursday, October 20, 2022 and tag us on our social media channels @houseofruth.

Candlelight Vigil

Please join us for House of Ruth's Annual Candlelight Vigil, "Voices Emerging From Within The Walls," in honor of victims and survivors of domestic violence. This event is free and open to the public. See you there!

Crowdfunding Campaign

To kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month, House of Ruth will be launching a Crowdfunding Campaign to ignite public awareness and broaden conversations about domestic violence, while raising funds for critical House of Ruth programing.

Participating in this campaign is easy. All you need to do is create your own team page, by clicking on the link below, and ask your friends and family to donate.

Your page can be shared via social media, email, or text. You can choose to remain anonymous by clicking on anonymous giving and your name will not appear on any page.

• Engage by creating and personalizing your own fundraising page and solicit sponsorships from family and friends. (Please check your junk email if you do not receive the confirmation email in your inbox.)

• Share the Voices From The Heart Crowdfunding Campaign with family and friends via social media, email, and/or text.

• Check & cash donations will also be accepted for this campaign.

• All donations over $25 will have the option to receive a personalized purple heart with their name, or a tributes name, and a 20 character message you wish to give to a survivor of domestic violence. Hearts will be displayed at our Annual Candlelight vigil, on October, 20th.

House of Ruth Mental Health Drive

The Counseling Department at House of Ruth welcomes you and your family to come out and join us at the first bi-annual Mental Health Drive.

The House of Ruth Mental Health Drive is a safe space designed to collectively learn the best mental health practices for families and for our  community.

There will be food, games, prizes, raffles, mental health screenings, self-care stations, and so much more. We look forward to seeing you and your family there!”
