Pull Up & Pick Up Drive-Thru Charity Event

In collaboration with Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy, House of Ruth participated in the Pull Up & Pick Up Drive-Thru Event, on October 16, 2020, assisting over 400 families in need, with food, toys, house-hold and hygiene items.

To comply with health and safety Covid-19 guidelines, participants drove up in their cars, opened their trunks, while volunteers placed donations in their vehicles. “Since October is domestic violence awareness month, we decided to partner up with House of Ruth to not only help the community, but most importantly to assist survivors of domestic violence during this pandemic.” Stated, Terrance Stone, Young Visionaries CEO. According to BBC news, “nearly 8 million Americans - many of them children and minorities - have fallen into poverty since May. Last week, nearly 900,000 people filed new claims for jobless benefits - the highest number since August.”

Now more than ever survivors of domestic violence need your help and charity events like the Pull Up & Pick Up Event are imperative for the survival of those in poverty. Executive Director Pat Bell, had this to share, “We are grateful to Young Visionaries and all the volunteers who assisted in coordinating this wonderful event and supplying our families with all this help, we appreciate the support and collaboration.”
