TSAHC believes in the power of education and building capacity for our nonprofit housing partners. Through our Housing Connection, we want to help affordable housing and counseling organizations access trainings, promote themselves, build capacity as well as provide a network where best practices can be shared.

Income-driven repayment plans allow borrowers to pay less for their student loans each month based on their income and family size, but some mortgage lenders don't take these discounted payments into consideration, which can lead to mortgage denials.

The Housing Counseling Certification Requirements Final Rule implements statutory requirements that housing counseling required under or provided in connection with all HUD programs must be provided by HUD Certified Housing Counselors by August 1, 2020.  Housing Counselors are encouraged to review updated training materials posted August 28, 2018 in preparation for the updated certification examination also available August 28, 2018. If you have downloaded the previous study guide, HUD recommends you delete that version and save this new version.  The www.hudhousingcounselors.com portal provides a full revision history of training materials, detailing changes to specific modules, and modules are dated to ensure users are accessing the most recent version.

Family stability and housing stability go hand in hand to influence a child's healthy development, yet across Connecticut, about 4,000 children live with foster families or in other placements. This photo essay shows the families behind the numbers and explores how a program that provides wraparound services can get children back home, ultimately leading to better outcomes.
