Strengthening the Local Response to the Opioid Epidemic
Saturday, April 27
3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Across the nation, counties are on the frontlines of government efforts to address the opioid crisis. Opioid use disorder is putting pressure on county budgets and operations at multiple levels, from justice to health to human services and more. More importantly, county residents are suffering. With Appalachia being one of the hardest hit regions in the country, the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has partnered with the National Association of Counties (NACo) to help counties find new, innovative and holistic approaches to maximize their limited resources and effectively address this crisis from all angles. Join ARC, NACo and fellow Georgia county leaders as they discuss potential solutions in the areas of (1) strategic local leadership, (2) prevention and education, (3) addiction treatment, (4) rehabilitation for justice-involved individuals and (5) economic development.
