Here's what Craftsman has to say about the direction of construction prices in the "about this book" section of the 2017 "National Renovation & Insurance Repair Estimator":
"WHAT'S NEW IN 2017
The overall construction market has improved substantially over the past several years, with many regions experiencing strong growth. As regional markets pick up, there is increasing pressure to raise wages, which grew slowly or not at all for several years following the 2008 financial crisis. Suppliers also held back on cost increases in past years and many feel current and coming cost increases are overdue. Lower fuel costs help offset some of the potential cost increases and have been a boon to both suppliers and contractors. Canada, which never suffered a downturn like the one experienced in the U.S., continues to experience strong growth and increasing costs, especially in metropolitan areas."
