Houston Rabbi, Joseph Radinsky, is paddled to safety May 27, 2015 (Facebook)

As you  are aware, severe flooding has occurred in the greater Houston, Texas area over the last several days, inundating hundreds of homes in high-density Jewish neighborhoods.  The situation is a nightmare for thousands of people who have been shut off from municipal services, highways and schools.

Houston Federation Executive Director, Lee Wunsch said that the short-term impact on a number of Jewish families in the Houston community will be significant. However, it will take days to fully assess damages and many months to recover and rebuild.

The JFNA Emergency Committee has allocated $25,000 to provide urgent assistance to the 50,000-strong Jewish community.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston has opened a mailbox to gather contributions in response to this disaster.  If you would like to make a contribution please do so at the  Jewish Federation of Greater Houston's Flood Relief Fund.

Thank you for joining us in sending prayers, resources, and good wishes to all those impacted by the Houston flood.

Jo Gon
Executive Director
