Houston Ground Angels
Management Review
March 2019
Tony Castiglie, Vice President & Treasurer
As this winter seems to linger on, I see that Houston’s weather forecast is for about 32 ° for a few evenings while it will be 2° in Minneapolis. But later this week, it will be 70° in Houston & still 2° in Minneapolis. Where would you rather be?
2019 is off to an excellent start, our best ever. We ran 255 missions during February, the best February ever. This year’s daily average is 9, something we had never before achieved. 43 volunteers stepped up to make this happen with Uber helping us fulfill the difficult missions, i.e. rush hour traffic, late evening runs or short notice requests. As a result, our forecast for 2019 is 3,000 missions, the most ever.
As always, the Archangels step up & they are the primary reason for our early success. Who are they:
Top 10 Volunteers – 2019
1.   Dick Stabell              86
2.  Charles Whitworth  55
3.  Sandra Begalke         54
4.   Tony LaRosa            28
5.  David LaFargue        25
6.  Laurie Galland          23
7.   Bo Hunter                 16
8.  Derek King                15
9.  Jacko Garrett            10
10. Edie Cantu                  9
We have a few Archangels who will be hitting some milestones this month & they will be announced in next month’s Management Review. I'm always amazed at the dedication of some volunteers & it makes them very special.
We are also working on some improvements to our Mission Management System. The fellow who originally designed & maintained the system passed away several years ago & it left us in a difficult position. A group from Insperity has recently volunteered their services & we hope to get on top of it again. The volunteers will be kept abreast of the project’s status.
March brought us some new volunteers: Phillip Coleman who resides in The Heights & Bill & Lisa Paschal who live in Katy. It is great having all of you aboard & thanks for choosing to be part of our great organization.
As always, to every volunteer who steps up, thanks for your contribution. 2019 is looking good!

Volunteers Needed
5 K Fun Run - Angleton, Houston Ground Angels Beneficiary

The City of Angleton and the Angleton Regional Airport have partnered to host a 5K fun run, probably on June 22, and possibly in the evening. Details and planning are just now happening. Dow Chemical's hanger is at this airport and they bring in patients that Houston Ground Angels provide transportation for to the Houston Medical Center.

Houston Ground Angels will be a beneficiary for this event. However, we will need to have at least six or seven volunteers to help man a booth, help the runners such as giving out water, etc. Please let me know if you would generously donate a few hours to this event. Thank you for considering this!
Kroger Shoppers

If you shop at Kroger's, and have a Kroger's card, please sign up on their website linking your card to Houston Ground Angles. Kroger has recently assigned Houston Ground Angels a new account number, which is "NEW NUMBER IS SN412." So if you have linked your card to HGA, please be sure to log-on and change the account number. We really appreciate your help with this.

After adding Houston Ground Angels to your Kroger card, HGA will receive one percent of all purchases. These dollars add up quickly. The website is:

Please let me know if you have any questions or problems logging on.
License Plate Frames

Derek and Ann King, our volunteers, have very generously donated some license plate frames for your cars that have Houston Ground Angels on them. These frames would be another way that could possibly help us get the word out about HGA and also help patients identify their driver picking them up. If you are interested in having one of these frames, please send me your name and address to where you would like them mailed.
Missions Anyone?

Please check the website to see if there is a mission or two that will fit your schedule. Our patients are
counting on us!
Thank you to all of our volunteers, who provide a ride for those coming to Houston for medical treatments!
The patients' appreciation is unmeasurable!

Thank You to all of our Volunteers and Happy March!
