The Future of Surgery is at CHA – Robotics!

In August, CHA launched its robotic surgery program with the da Vinci® Xi surgical robot. This brings the finest specialty care to you, closer to home.

The da Vinci Xi is a cutting edge system that allows our highly trained surgeons to use tiny instruments mounted on robotic arms during surgery. Complex surgeries are now done in a “minimally invasive” way - meaning less pain and quicker recovery times.

“We know that surgery is a team sport,” says Dr. Siva Vithiananthan, CHA Chief of Surgery. “Each robotic surgery relies on colleagues from surgery, anesthesiology, nursing, and other departments to be successful. I am thrilled that we have an excellent team in place at CHA in all these areas and I can’t wait to see the improvements for our patients in the months ahead.”
Stay Healthy with Vaccines

Flu and COVID vaccines: Did you know you can get both your flu and COVID vaccine at the same time, including the Bivalent COVID booster for people 12 and older? To schedule a flu and/or COVID shot, please visit MyChart or call your CHA primary care site. When in MyChart, click on the "visits" tab on the top toolbar, click the green "Schedule an appointment" button, then select the "COVID/Flu Vaccine" option and follow the screen prompts.

Shots are also available to the general public at our community clinics and pharmacy locations. Don’t wait - get your vaccines now and stay healthy for the holidays!

Monkeypox vaccine: Eligible patients and the general public can get the Monkeypox vaccine at selected CHA sites. You can schedule a visit through MyCHArt or the DPH website.

Polio vaccine: Polio has been in the news recently due to cases in New York. In the US, most adults were vaccinated as children when receiving routine childhood vaccines. If you are not sure if you were vaccinated, or do not have polio vaccine records, see the CDC’s vaccine guidance here. Please call your primary care center to schedule a polio vaccine appointment if needed.
Believe in Where You Work

Do you want to feel great about where you work, knowing you’re making a difference in people’s lives every day? You can do that at CHA - and also get competitive pay, excellent benefits, and work in a respectful, supportive environment. It takes people with many different skills to run a healthcare system, and we have job openings across ours.

Check out all of our job openings here. This month’s hot jobs are in our new inpatient psychiatry service at CHA Cambridge Hospital.

Watch our new video to hear from CHA staff about our innovative approach to care, our Harvard and Tufts teaching programs and our commitment to community health.
Protecting Kids in Schools - The Urgency of Equity

Poor people and sick people, Black, Latinx and indigenious communities, and people with disabilities have carried an unequal burden during the pandemic. Many live in our communities. The Urgency of Equity is a resource for people to protect themselves and each other. CHA primary care provider, Dr. Lara Jirmanus, along with many other public health experts, developed this resource with guidelines for schools and communities.

Here’s what you can do:
  • Get vaccinated and boosted. Too few children in our communities are vaccinated.
  • Improve air flow and filtration in schools by opening windows and using HEPA air purifiers.
  • Wear high-quality masks when indoors (N95/KF94/KN95).
  • Support weekly testing for students, teachers and school staff.
