How CISDR Site Coordinators Helped Students and Families During Winter Storm Uri
When Winter Storm Uri slammed into the State of Texas, Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region (CISDR) Site Coordinators sprang into action. At Burks Elementary in McKinney, Eva Madera handed out gloves before the storm hit, and at Landry Elementary in CFB ISD, Janette Garcia helped the school counselor gather blankets for kids in need. As Texas continues to recover from the storm, we have compiled a list of resources for those still needing assistance. Click the link below to learn more.

Affirmation Station Helps Build Self-Esteem
A student at Williams High in Plano was constantly talking down to herself, so Site Coordinator Hannah Clark created an "Affirmation Station." On the first day, the student could not agree with any of the positive statements on the wall. After talking about each one, she finally had the confidence to choose the "I am a friend" card. Every week since, she chooses a new card, learning to say nice things about herself and believe them. Thank you to Hannah for helping this student build her self-esteem!
