Pathways to Equity header
Welcome colleagues,
Moving into the new year, CCE continues to dedicate itself to equity and culturally responsive teaching that engages students of all backgrounds and raises global citizens .  Our programming drives this mission, and while summer may seem like a distant future during these cold winter days, we're excited to announce that we're hard at work preparing for this year's  Quality Performance Assessment  Summer Institute

Held from July 17 to 20 at Simmons College in Boston, QPA Summer Institute promotes educational equity through performance assessment, helping educators to rethink performance tasks through a culturally responsive lens and create assessment systems that drive deeper learning for all students. We invite you to learn more about Summer Institute at our upcoming  our Online Info Session on January 25 .

Los Angeles Urban Teacher Residency
The Los Angeles Urban Teacher Residency (LAUTR) has had a productive start of the 2016 school year thus far, traveling to a number of conferences and events across the country.  This month LAUTR presented at the Learning Forward Conference 2016 in Vancouver on differentiated support for novice teachers and attended the California Equity Symposium 2016 in Irvine, California. LAUTR is also diligently carrying out program level work in their partnership with Cal State University Los Angeles. This focuses on LAUTR's core impact on teacher recruitment, preparation, placement and retention for their public school district partners in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles New Administrators Leadership Program
The Los Angeles New Administrators Leadership Program (LANALP) staff presented a session at the USDOE School Leadership Program meeting. The session's goal was to share the tools and processes that LANALP employs to recruit school administrators who are dissatisfied with the prevailing educational system and are committed to honing the skills needed to ensure equity and access for the most disenfranchised student population. The presentation's intent was to create a space to share, review, and engage other voices to continuously refine the LANALP recruitment and selection processes.

Our Blog Excerpt
In her three-part interview series on Our Blog, Senior Associate Karen P. White talks to principals and headmasters participating in the Massachusetts Personalized Learning Network cohorts about their visions for personalized learning.

"We are focusing on increasing student engagement. We want to do this by strengthening our social and emotional supports and making project based learning a standard across all the grades.  We will build an advisory program that will facilitate collaboration between students and staff. This advisory program will include community-based projects and explicit instruction in goal setting and action planning. Our programs will be founded on the principles of Social Emotional Learning, Engaged Learning and Next Generation Curriculum and Assessment."
