Scaling and sustaining evidence-based college success initiatives
Much of our recent work has focused on designing and evaluating scalable strategies to improve college success for low-income students. Where do we find success? 1) When we leverage tech to improve 1:1 connections between students and advisors, and 2) when we take a localized approach by partnering with higher education systems or networks.
N2FL interim findings show increased degree completion among high-risk students
Nudges to the Finish Line (N2FL) is a multi-state RCT using interactive mobile messaging to increase completion among students who have earned substantial credits but remain at risk of dropout. Our interim findings show that these nudges can improve outcomes for students at the highest risk of withdrawal.
Nudging at Scale: Experimental Evidence from FAFSA Completion Campaigns
Do nudge interventions that have generated positive impacts at a local level maintain efficacy when scaled state or nationwide? A recent large-scale RCT we conducted with a team of partners found no impact of nudges implemented at the state or national level. We discuss implications for future nudge interventions.
