We are Cape Cod's Hydrangea Headquarters...
Greetings!
Believe it or not, you can tell a lot about hydrangea plant care by its name. Hydrangea is from Greek descent: "Hydro" means water and "Angos" means jar or vessel. This explains hydrangeas' need for lots of water to thrive. As we continue on into the heat of our Cape Cod summer, it is best if you remember that your hydrangeas need regular watering. You can check out CL Foranri's blog this week on summer watering for tips for all areas of your garden. And here is a link to an older blog post from CL regarding Hydrangea Pleasures and Problems for watering tips specific to Hydrangeas.
The Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival is still going strong for a few more days. You can still visit area gardens and support local charitable organizations. We're also going to continue with our Huge Hydrangea Sale - all Hydrangeas at Hyannis Country Garden are 20% off through Sunday, July 17. And we've got Hydrangea Helpers on sale for 20% off too - things like soaker hoses, Bumper Crop compost, Espoma soil acidifier, Espoma Lime, and Espoma BioTone, and locally made Challenger Green Fertilizer. The sale ends Sunday though - so don't wait!
We've got lots of fun events coming up in the next 2 weeks too. Next weekend (7/23-7/25) we're celebrating Christmas In July! here at Hyannis Country Garden. Santa Claus will even be here for a summer photo op, Stop in for special, close-out savings on various Christmas items and evergreens. Then on 7/28-7/31 we're hosting our Annual Tent Sale. We're still working on the details but we can promise you there will be hundreds of items discounted 50% or more.

Behind the Scenes...
HCG Goes to the Barnstable County Fair
Hyannis Country Garden has participated in the Barnstable County Fair for decades; as a locally owned business we feel it is important to be active in our community. We've won countless blue awards for our landscape displays and those ribbons hang proudly in the "Hall of Fame" in our office area.
ï»żHCG Family member and owner Diana Duffley has been hard at work, setting up our display garden at the fair for this season. Chris Stokes, our Sales Floor Manager and the rest of our Aquatics team will be helping to set up the water feature there later this week. The fair runs from 7/18-7/24. Please stop by and check out our garden, It is a welcome respite from the lights and action on the Mid-Way. Look for the Barnstable County Extension garden signs - our garden is located just to the right.

As I write this blog post, it’s a sunny 81 degrees and very windy. We haven’t had significant rain for sometime, and according to the latest Cape Cod landscape message from the UMASS Cooperative Extension, our soils are dry. “Precipitation fell on June 27/28 and July 2 amounting to just under an inch (0.91”). Pets of Hyannis Country Garden
Say hello to Miss Sunday! She came in for a quick visit this week and was all smiles for our camera. This beautiful Weimaraner loves to visit us at Hyannis Country Garden...and we love to see her!
In addition to loving cats, we are dog-friendly at HCG. All well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome at Hyannis Country Garden...in fact we've put water bowls out for them around the nursery. We've got pet food, treats, and toys for dogs and cats alike.

Do you have a pet that loves #hyanniscountrygarden? Send us a picture of them along with whatever makes them happy when they're here...maybe it's a treat or a toy - you tell us! We'll try to feature your pet in our newsletter or on social media. Click here to send that picture!
Bring Your Questions...

We are very sorry but CL will NOT be here THIS Friday 7/15. She will return for in-person consultations on 7/22.
In order to serve a larger number of our customers, C.L. Fornari will be staffing a Consultation Table every Friday during the growing season. Customers can bring in photos of a specific location on their property for design suggestions, plants for identification, or problem solving. Please click here to go to our website and see more details.
