How Not To Be Harsh With Your Children
Last week I had the pleasure of teaching a parent session on how not to be harsh with your children. There's a link below to the whole lesson. Here's a preview and then you can click the link if you're interested in more:
God clearly commands us not to be harsh (Ephesians 6:4, Colossians 3:21, Proverbs 15:1)
A. Ephesians 4:26-31 is a good example of what harshness looks like
B. Harshness is a work of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-26)
What To Do
1. Pay attention to yourself (1 Corinthians 10:12, Matthew 15:18-20; James 4:1-4)
2. Don't keep score (Mathew 18:21; 1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
3. Teach and model genuine confession, repentance and reconciliation (1 John 1:8-9)
4. Practice Saturation Love (Romans 2:14; Matthew 3:16-17; Exodus 20:1-2; Ephesians 5;1)
