Originally founded by J.R. Roden and Bob Smith, Roden-Smith Pharmacy has been a fixture in Clovis, NM, for over 70 years. The Lansford family has owned the pharmacy for more than 30 of those years. We offer traditional pharmacy services as well as compounding, medication synchronization, vaccines, long-term facilities care and medication management. It has been a great joy to serve the community we call home.

Challenge

As the world has evolved over the last 70 years, transitioning into the social media world of today was a challenge – but very necessary. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we needed a way to expand our reach to patients who were not able or too afraid to come inside of the store and ease some of the burden on our staff who were fielding back-to-back phone calls. 

Solution

The social media and online review management platform (SOCi) provided by GNP and our GNP Advertising Manager, Adelina Ardelean, offers immense resources and guidance for keeping our patients and community informed. Beautiful graphics, thoughtful design and content, and hands-on coaching simplifies managing social media and gives us an opportunity to share our pharmacy culture, services and front-end offerings digitally to our patients. Whether it's a national medical holiday, a new or seasonal drug, the systems we employ or staff and patient feature stories that connect us to the community, using SOCi and having Adelina to bounce ideas off of is extremely helpful!

Outcome

Posting updates and critical information on social media made it so easy to get information about vaccines out quickly to the masses, and because patients used Facebook and Instagram messaging to ask specific questions, we averted hundreds of repetitive daily phone calls in the pharmacy. The accessibility social media provided during the pandemic allowed us to maintain our standard for quality patient care. We were honored and thrilled to be among the leading providers of the COVID-19 vaccine in 2021 and received immense support from our community at our busy offsite clinic. 


Using GNP’s social media support tools, our Instagram page now has more than 500 followers and our Facebook page has nearly 1,800 engaged followers. Real-time stats and analytics on user engagement are extremely helpful when deciding where to direct our attention and how to improve patient communication and outreach.
