Teresa's Story
How Teresa's Story is Making a Difference
January 2016

As INTERPRO approaches its quarter-century in business, we are inviting you, our friends and colleagues, to share your story - a monthly "Quote for the Quarter" that describes what is meaningful in your life.  Stories that are selected are also followed by a financial contribution from INTERPRO to the author's charity of choice.  This month, we feature Teresa Black.

For much of my life, I had been engaged in a battle, but it wasn't until several years ago that I began to identify the source of my "discontent", which was, in fact, a "disconnect" between my heart and my head. And I realized that until I could find a way to have the two coexist, I would never find peace or happiness. I also began to understand that this internal conflict was keeping me from realizing my fullest potential. It was keeping me from letting people know who I truly am. And it provided a very good rationale for keeping people away, lest they somehow figure it out.
Heart & Head

So, what is meaningful in my life? Asked a different way, what makes life meaningful to me? I believe my passion and my purpose is to inspire others to recognize their value and achieve their fullest potential. But to do so, I needed to get out of my own way and stop this constant battle that only kept me going in circles, rather than moving forward.

Years ago, someone told me, "you took people who were broken and had given up, and gave us hope and faith that we could be better." That is the ultimate compliment to me, and when I can continue to do that for others, then life truly is meaningful.
