We can help eliminate that barrier with three easy tips:
Start Strong
The first sentence needs to be your strongest. You can ask a question, state an opinion, or share an intriguing fact. It’s important to stay strong throughout the first 2-3 sentences, without giving the entire post away — because after that, the reader will need to expand the post to read the rest of the message. Be sure to hook them enough to click through to read more.
Keep It Conversational
Even though LinkedIn is a space for connecting with other professionals, that doesn’t mean every post needs to be written like a formal report. In fact, posts perform better if they’re candid and conversational. Contractions can help set a “conversational” tone, personal anecdotes are appreciated, and using short sentences and paragraphs will make the overall post feel more approachable to scanning readers.
Add a “CTC”
You’ve likely heard of a CTA or “call to action” for marketing messages — identifying and asking for the thing that you want the viewer to do after seeing an ad. Examples include “Buy Now” or “Learn More.” But what about a CTC? Otherwise known as a “call to conversation,” it should inspire the reader to add a comment. Examples include “Have you had success with this strategy? Why or why not?” or simply “How about you?”
