How VR Is Advancing Training for CMPD Officers & Recruits

As a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department recruit, you’ll not only learn from some of the most knowledgeable experts in the field. You’ll also get the chance to bolster your policing skills and prepare for real-life scenarios using leading-edge technology like virtual reality (VR).

VR allows you to experience scenarios before you encounter them in the field. It’s practice for thinking on your feet, navigating your body’s natural stress response and making the right decisions to de-escalate situations that could otherwise put you or others in danger.

Read on to see what a VR instructor and recent grad say about how VR is shaping officers’ interactions with Charlotte’s citizens.

Zillow Names Charlotte Among Hottest Housing Markets

Charlotte once again made Zillow’s list of top 10 hottest major housing markets in a newly released ranking for 2024. The Queen City sits in the no. 7 spot this year. Affordability is a key factor.

“This ranking of the nation’s 50 most populous metros takes into account Zillow's forecast for local home value growth and the speed at which home sellers are entering contracts with buyers,” says the report. “It also considers job growth per new home permitted and growth in owner-occupied households.”
