Last year, Reduce the Risk launched its Protection Order Training Program to raise awareness and educate communities across California about the state’s nine protection orders. Through our work with law enforcement, healthcare professionals, legal professionals and other trusted community leaders, we have provided organizations across California with the information and resources they need to educate their communities about these lifesaving tools and empower them to save lives.
Check out this quote from the Irvine Police Department, who recently participated in our training:
“The Irvine Police Department already maintains a robust Gun Violence Restraining Order program, and this training reinforced our work through thoughtful facilitator engagement and the sharing of current, data-driven insights. We also appreciated learning more about the upcoming law changes to the Post-Secondary School Violence Restraining Orders, and how the expanded law will strengthen our ability to support educational institutions through effective threat assessment and early intervention. I would highly recommend this training to any agency looking to expand their knowledge and grow in their threat assessment capabilities.”

To expand information about protection orders in communities, Reduce the Risk has a Train-the-Trainer program for community leaders with prior expertise and experience using protection orders, or for anyone who has taken the initial training and who would like to train others in their organization or community.
