Legislative Updates
As a member of the License & Consumer Protection Committee, I enthusiastically supported two ordinances:
- An ordinance that amends the Municipal Code that streamlines the process for a business to apply for both a PPA (Public Place of Amusement, which allows a business to have live entertainment) and a liquor license. Streamlining the process eliminates confusion about notice requirements and more clearly aligns the process for objecting to these license applications by sending out one consolidated notice to the impacted community. This ordinance will help facilitate the Entertainment District located in and around the Uptown Theatre.
- An ordinance, of which I am a co-sponsor, amends the Municipal Code to allow for greater customer service for the purchase of year-round City Vehicle Sticker sales. A special thanks to City Clerk Susana Mendoza and her staff who worked so hard on this. For more information about this ordinance and to sign up for the City Clerk's Newsletters, click here.
Save the Date for Paper Shredding and Electronic Equipment Recycling
As we work together to spruce up the 46th Ward, you also have a chance to do some spring cleaning. Back by popular demand, we will be hosting paper shredding and a chance to dispose of broken electronic equipment.
When: Saturday, April 20 from 9am - Noon
Where: 46th Ward Office at 4544 N. Broadway
LV-2 Cubs Night Parking Program Discontinued
The LV2 program in the 46th Ward has mostly duplicated current 383 zone parking. This led to confusion and unnecessary towing fees and hassles for many residents. Therefore, we have discontinued this program to simplify parking for residents and their visitors. We have begun the removal process for the remaining LV2 parking signs in the ward.
Visitors attending night baseball games and events at Wrigley Field will only be able to park on your street legally if they have the applicable 383 zone permit or guest pass displayed in their window. If you do NOT have parking zone restrictions on your street and are concerned about evening parking around Wrigley Field or other entertainment venues, please contact your neighborhood association or block club to organize a petition for zoned parking on your street.
To find your neighborhood association in Lakeview, click here. To find your neighborhood association in Uptown, click here. There is a petition process that allows for zoned parking, but there is a fee attached. If you would like a copy of the petition please contact Forest at forest@james46.org.
