New Strategic Plan Thanks to Our Community

We have a new Strategic Plan – and we have our Board of Directors, employees, and community to thank for it.

Our Strategic Plan provides direction, priorities, and goals toward a sustainable and innovative future for our not-for-profit organization, so we can best meet the needs of people and families, our team, and our broader community. The plan also positions our organization to adapt with innovation to the Government of Ontario’s multi-year plan for Developmental Services reform, called Journey to Belonging: Choice and Inclusion.

Developing a Strategic Plan is a board-led process. Our board was supported by People Minded Business, a consultant with expertise in the Developmental Services sector and strategic plan development. To help inform the plan, People Minded Business consulted many people:

  • 95 employees, people, and families participated in surveys
  • 50 employees, people, families, and board members participated in focus groups
  • 10 community partners participated in one-on-one interviews

Input also came from our Strategic Plan Advisory Team, an invited group of board members, people and families who access our services, and employees tasked with providing insight that might otherwise be missed.

I invite you to review our new 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, its strategic priorities, and their related goals, on our website.

In the plan, you will also find our new Vision, Purpose, Values, and Commitments statements:

Vision

Creating a Community of Belonging Together

Purpose

To promote and advance meaningful choice and real inclusion for people with developmental disabilities, so people, families, and our community can thrive.

As an important part of the Strategic Plan process, a review and revision of these statements ensures they continue to reflect our organization’s character and views, and to guide our actions.

On behalf of our team at Community Living Huntsville, I am excited to work now and in the years ahead on realizing our new Strategic Plan – and creating a community of belonging together.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Willett

Spotlight: Signature Event Partners

Did you know that we had dedicated Signature Event Partners that each sponsored not just one but all of our signature fundraising events in 2024-2025?

Their generosity helps us make these vital fundraising efforts a success – and raise needed funds to support our affordable housing initiatives and other unfunded services.

But why do they choose to support Community Living Huntsville?

Here is what our Signature Event Partners had to say:

Platinum Partner – Tall Trees Muskoka

“As parents with an autistic son, we work so hard for our child’s unpredictable future. We can never change who our son is and, frankly, we don’t want to. So instead, we decided to change the world. We figured inclusion in our hometown was a good place to start.”

– Ashley and Randy Vowels

Gold Partner – Lovegrove Construction & Design

"At Lovegrove Construction, we believe that everyone deserves a place to call home. Partnering with Community Living Huntsville was an easy decision because their housing initiatives directly support people in our community who need it most. We take pride in building more than just structures – we help build stronger, more inclusive communities. Supporting these signature events is our way of giving back and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and stability."

“I feel it is important to give back and I choose to support Community Living Huntsville because it does great work in promoting and creating opportunities for a more inclusive community. Their team works hard to support and empower community members with developmental disabilities and break down barriers so people both with and without disabilities are genuinely included in real community life. It does this in a lot of ways, including through its employment services and affordable housing initiatives. Community Living Huntsville is doing excellent work.”

Huntsville Sting Scores Good Deeds for Disability Inclusion

The Huntsville Sting U11 Black girls’ hockey team pulled a Hat Trick for Housing by collecting donations in support of Community Living Huntsville in March – twice!

After raising $500 at the Canada Summit Centre on March 1, the team scored an additional $840 at Capstone Market on March 6 for a total donation of $1,340.

Thank you to the team – and to everyone who donated!

Each donation was recorded toward the team’s pursuit of the 2025 Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup. On March 22, the team officially won Second Place in the contest and $20,000 for the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.

Congratulations, team! Your community is grateful and proud of your good deeds.
