How Your Support Transforms Lives

The Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes returns this October, bringing together beauty, generosity, and purpose to support Greene County Habitat for Humanity. More than just a home tour, it’s a powerful way to help local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

The idea for the Showcase began with a small group of volunteers, including Greene County Habitat board member and past chairman Jan Broughton, who saw an opportunity to meet our community’s growing need for affordable housing. That vision became reality with the first Home Tour in Reynolds Lake Oconee, and for Jan, the mission was deeply personal.

Jan's Story

After a tragic car accident took her father’s life, Jan’s mother was left to raise six children on her own - without a home, income, or transportation. Press Play on the video above to hear Jan’s powerful story and learn how Habitat for Humanity’s home selection process helps change the lives of many Greene County families today.

Jan knows just how transformative a safe, stable home can be. That’s why she continues to give her time, energy, and resources to this cause, and why the Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes is about so much more than beautiful houses.

Why Community Support Matters

The Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes has grown into one of the area’s most beloved events, but its purpose remains the same: to build homes for families in Greene County who need them most.

This year, our goal is to fund the construction of 5 homes.

Each home represents a new beginning for families facing housing insecurity, children needing stability to thrive in school, and parents working hard to provide a better future. With the continued support of sponsors, donors, and volunteers, we’re building more than homes—we’re creating opportunity and hope.

By becoming a Lake Oconee Showcase of Homes sponsor, you’ll play a direct role in building safe, affordable housing for families in Greene County—creating lasting change, one home at a time.
