Thank you to the support from our Board, Ventura County Fire Department, Rincon Consultants, and all the other partners that were crucial in the creation of these documents!

Community Wildfire Protection Plans

A Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is a plan developed at the county-wide and local community level in areas at-risk of wildfire. They are created in collaboration with community members, fire agencies operating in the area, local government, and other interested stakeholders.

We are proud to announce that those plans have been signed and are officially available to the public on our website at venturafiresafe.org/cwpp.

Having this document presents a fountain of opportunity for future wildfire funding and projects that raise resiliency for our communities!

Other Announcements

Grant funding from CAL FIRE

We are excited to share that we've secured a substantial four-year grant of roughly $3 Million that will drive our "Ventura County Education and Fuels Mitigation Initiative", aiming to bolster the safety of our vulnerable, high-fire-risk communities through three key strategies: Education, Firewise Development, and Fuels Treatment.

We are excited to bring more resources into Ventura County and, with CAL FIRE's support, are dedicated to creating a safer future for our communities.

Grant funding from California Fire Safe Council

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that our organization has been awarded a generous one-year grant of $500,000 from the California Fire Safe Council for our project, "Unity and Preparedness Through Defensible Space." This initiative is dedicated to bolstering wildfire resilience within Ventura County's most vulnerable communities. Through a combination of education and no-cost defensible space treatment, we are committed to making a lasting impact on the safety and well-being of our community members. This grant will empower us to work tirelessly towards a safer and more resilient Ventura County, protecting lives and properties from the ever-present threat of wildfires.

Keep an eye out for opportunities for defensible space assistance in the near future!

Give Back for a Bigger Impact

Please consider a contribution to our organization so that we can continue providing free services to the community and prepare as much of Ventura County as possible for impending wildfire. We are not safe until all of our communities and neighborhoods are safe. There are many homeowners and communities in Ventura County who simply cannot afford to do the work themselves; it is crucial for all of us to be able to help those less fortunate. Your support will allow us to continue providing free assessments, chipping services, brush clearance, educational workshops, and so much more. We do not take this responsibility lightly and thank you for entrusting us with your support.

VRFSC is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization and your contribution is tax deductible.
