FROM THE DIRECTORS...

Earlier this month, Chabad of Rockville raised $11,668 for COVID-19 relief programs and projects! But there’s more…
 
Before I continue though, I’ve got to tell you this. When people donate to Chabad of Rockville, they often thank Esther and me for the vital work we’re doing in the community. That’s when I proudly remind them that it's not just us doing the work, it’s all of us—including our donors—who are Chabad of Rockville. Because without their generous support none of it would be possible. So thank you to all who participated in the COVID-19 Relief Campaign, thank you for  being there !
 
Back to my story. A day after the COVID-19 Relief Campaign reached its goal, Dorit Voda, a close friend and local hair and makeup artist at  Dorit Voda Hair & Beauty , called me. She shared that after reading about our COVID-19 relief efforts and donating to the COVID-19 Relief Campaign, she wanted to get more personally involved in helping the vulnerable in our community by donating ten haircuts to Jewish homebound seniors in our community. 
 
That’s when the point really hit home for Esther and me. These are unique times, times which call on each and every one of us to  be there  for each other in every way we can. If we’re able to donate to causes helping people who are struggling, now is the time to  be there , now is the time to do it. If we’re able to personally get involved and make a difference in the lives of those in need, now is the time to  be there , now is the time to do it.
 
I made some phone calls, and I'm coordinated with the Jewish Social Service Agency to provide haircuts to Holocausts survivors stranded at home.

What a day at the Capital Kosher Pantry! Big shout-out to Larry Schecker and his daughter Sarah for sponsoring and leading our Bags of Hope project! Over $2,000 raised and many shopping carts filled in loving memory of Larry's parents Julia and Irwin Schecker. BAGS OF HOPE
These are difficult times for all of us and seeing food lines breaks our hearts. The Capital Kosher Pantry at Yad Yehuda is in desperate need of our contributions.

Larry Schecker and his family are asking you to help in memory of Julia and Irwin’s legacy of volunteering. Please fill a shopping bag with kosher non-perishable staples, then call, text or email us and it will be pick it up for delivery to the Pantry. Larry has generously offered to drop off a bag at your home, if you'd like. Or you can fill your own.
