Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals in the Upstate of South Carolina through the power of the horse.
April 2019
Hello Happy Hooves friends and family,

Have you ever wondered how you can make a difference in the lives of special needs children and at risk youth in the Upstate?  Since 2003, Happy Hooves, our non-profit therapeutic equestrian center at Eden Farms, has been operating year round with that goal in mind.  We know that horses can run fast, jump high, and take us places, but just like us, they can do so much more and make a long lasting beneficial impact on others.

Our Happy Hooves therapy horses help individuals with special needs increase their self esteem, confidence, balance, core strength, fine & gross motor skills.  We have seen children leave their wheelchairs and walkers at our handicapped mounting ramp, mount their trusty steed and feel the rhythmic, healing sensation of a horse walking.  We also work with at risk youth who have difficult home lives, but they come out once a week to ride their horse, take in the sunshine, interact with caring staff & volunteers, and enjoy a time of peace and healing. We strive to create a place where everyone who visits feels welcomed and loved.

Our friends at  Scaly Adventures visited Eden Farms and made this great video about our therapeutic riding program.  You'll see
our sweet rider, Anna Kate,
as well as Hannah, one of our beloved therapy horses.

Without Happy Hooves' generous donors, volunteers, and prayers, our therapeutic riding program simply could not happen.  To find out how you can help Happy Hooves, please click here.  Thank you for all you do to make a difference in the lives of others right here in the Upstate.  We hope to see you out at Eden Farms soon!

God bless you and keep you,
Becky Sweeney

A few of our friends from Leadership Greenville's 45th Class
Thank you Leadership Greenville's 45th Class and Helen's Hugs!

Happy Hooves cannot thank Leadership Greenville's 45th Class and Helen's Hugs enough for their support and dedication to our Therapeutic Equestrian program! They are tearing down our 18 year old playground and making it so much better, more engaging, and more accessible to children with special needs. There will be lookout points, handicapped accessible sandbox, swings, a covered picnic pavilion, a horse themed sensory integration wall, and so much more! Stay tuned, it's going to be great!

A Huge Thanks to Clemson University's Service Fraternity Alpha Phi Omega!

This wonderful group of students spent a day at Eden Farms helping out our therapeutic riding program, Happy Hooves. We really appreciate them taking time to help. They also met one of our therapy horses, Tonka, who just had to be in the picture too!

Friends of the Farm

We want to thank our most loyal supporters and make all donors and volunteers, new and old, feel appreciated! Your support is essential to our mission to enhance the lives of individuals in the Upstate of South Carolina through the power of the horse.

Happy Hooves is an all-volunteer organization. All funding comes from donations, fundraisers and grants. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, over 80% of our Happy Hooves riders are able to receive therapeutic riding at no charge.

Happy Hooves currently serves nearly 160 children in the Upstate each year through therapeutic riding lessons, summer fun programs and School at the Barn.

School at the Barn has 570 therapy lessons and 570 Equine Assisted Learning lessons each year. Summer camp has 135 therapy lessons; and we have 400 individual therapy lessons for a total of 1675 lessons per year.

The therapeutic riding programs require an average of 40 trained volunteers each week, and run year round, with each volunteer working an average of 3 hours per week.

Eden Farms, home of Happy Hooves, is a beautiful 170-acre property with three arenas, a 40-stall barn that currently houses 30 horses; 13 boarders and 17 therapy horses. There is a handicapped accessible playground on the grounds, along with a sensory riding trail with man-made activity stations.

We once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support and your donations. We couldn't help so many special needs children and adults, and at-risk children and teens, without you!

Did You Know?

Happy Hooves has been a PATH International Premier Accredited Center since 2005. In fact, we are one of only six Premier Accredited Centers in South Carolina, and the only one in the Upstate. This accreditation is a rigorous process requiring centers to meet stringent requirements for staff, facilities, and programs. A program must be re-accredited every five years.

Your contribution helps special needs children and adults, as well as at-risk children and teens.
Happy Hooves is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
