How do I know if my doctor(s) take original Medicare (Part A and Part B)?

When a potential client comes to me for a consultation to find a Medicare plan, I often get the question when a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan is chosen, “How do I know if my doctor(s) take original Medicare (Part A and Part B)?”   My past response was that Medicare does (or did) not have a directory or a way to look up doctors. The Medicare Advantage plans all have a network of in-network doctors with either on-line or paper directories.   Well, I have now located a look-up on the Medicare.gov website where you can now find doctors that are contracted with original Medicare (also called ‘Fee For Service’ doctors).   The link is:   www.medicare.gov

Locate: “Find Doctors, Providers, Hospitals, Plans & Suppliers”  Then click on: “Find Doctors and Other Health Professionals” See image below for a visual of the steps: Here is another image of how your page should look called the “ Physician Compare ” page. This is where you are led to once you click or choose “ Find Doctors and Other Health Professionals ” (Step 2 from above). This is where you can search for doctors contracted with original Medicare.

MAKE YOURSELF- A Great Recipe for Kale Hummus It’s healthy, not processed, and has greens in it too!!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED: 1 bunch kale, rinsed and de- stemmed 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed well 1 preserved lemon, de-seeded and chopped 3 garlic cloves, chopped Salt to taste 1 tbsp tahini 3 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp black sesame seeds, for garnish *Makes 2 cups HOW TO MAKE IT: Bring a small pot of water to a boil, add kale and heat up for 1 minute. Drain kale and add to food processor with chickpeas, preserved lemon, garlic, salt and tahini. Process until smooth, streaming in olive oil. Serve with black sesame seeds & drizzled olive oil. Enjoy with crackers, pita bread, veggies or your favorite dipping snack!
